: (شر) غدّة صَمَّاء تقع في مقدّم العنق على جانبي القصبة الهوائيَّة مكوّنة من فصّين متَّصل أحدهما بالآخر، تفرز هرمون الثيروكسين، وهي تهيمن على الكثير من أيض الجسم وتنظِّمه
