: طلب الدنيء من الأمور

: ما ظفر منه بشيء.

🇬🇧 Translation: : Did not get anything from it (To gain nothing).

: جعله يتناوله يابسًا غير معجون? أسفّه الترابَ : أهانه، أذلّه.

🇬🇧 Translation: : Made him swallow it dry without kneading ? asaffahu at-turaba : insulted him, humiliated him (To force-feed dry powder/To humiliate).

: هبط إلى مستوىً متدنٍّ? فلانٌ يُسِفّ ولا يقع : يدنو من الأمر ولا يفعله.

🇬🇧 Translation: : Descended to a low level ? fulanun yusiffu wa la yaqa'u : he approaches an action but does not do it (To stoop/Lower the standard).
